Winter is almost here....
We know what that means?.....
Science: We are going to find out why we have seasons and hopefully start moon phases. We will start recording our top secret project. Let's just say that it will be a newsworthy performance.
Social Studies: We will have established our colonies by the end of this wee. Oh the good times we shared moving from England to New England, Middle and Southern Colonies. Our happiness will not last. A big war is coming soon. Choose your side:)

Solar System & The 13 Colonies
I am so proud of the work that each of you put in for the solar system home projects. I enjoyed looking over your work and look forward to your presentations tomorrow. This week, we are going to talk about different types of telescopes. We will also hopefully complete our weather reports.
The 13 colonies are coming along nicely. We will now move on to the southern colonies. The students have learned so much in a short amount of time.
Our field trip to the Savannah Children's Theatre was a huge success. The students definitely learned a lot about good test taking strategies. I did not know that we had so many performing artists in the fourth grade. Hopefully, we will be able to go another field trip next semester.

Food Chains, Native Americans and European Explorers
Good Evening,
I would like to thank all of the students and family members that worked hard on those food chain projects. The food chain presentations were wonderful. I enjoyed having excited students showing me their projects and so willing to present first. We are in the middle of our iMovie for Native Americans/European Explorers. The students have been working hard in the classroom and the media center. I can't wait until the movies are completed, so the students can showcase their hard work.

Projects all around
Hello my students,
I hope you have enjoyed Native Americans and Ecosystems. It is now time to get ready for a couple of projects. We will be doing different projects in the media center this week. We will also learn about European Explorers. So get ready. On Wednesday, we will have a quiz on Native Americans so study your notes.

Half way through the first marking period
I can't believe we have been in school for about a month now. We have been exposed to so much. Remember our first science observation, when that giant lizard tried to attack me. But on a serious note, we are almost done with ecosystems. That means that a project is in our mists. So get ready... it will be here soon. In Social Studies, it is time to add European Explorers to North America. We will see what impact if any the explorers had on the Native Americans.
To my young scientists and historians, you are more than welcome to post a positive comment.

Predator vs. Prey
Good morning my scientists,
I hope you are enjoying your long holiday weekend. Hopefully, you are spending some of your free time telling your family about the experiment we conducted on Friday. Our experiment was to observe how animals act in the wild. Since we could not find any animals to observe, we decided to act out how they behave in the wild. The students received a crash course on what it is probably like to be the prey and the predator. When we came back inside, they had to write about their experiences as predator or prey.

Ecosystem & Native Americans
In Science: We are really involved with understanding how our ecosystems interdependent of each other. The students are learning so much about producers and consumers. There is going to be a quiz this week on ecosystems. I also have a surprise activity this week weather permitting. Keep your fingers crossed.
In Social Studies: We are learning about Native Americans. They will learn the ways of the Native Americans and how life changed when the European settlers came to North America. Ask your student about the rap.

First Week of School
I can't believe we have surrendered the first full week of school. So far the students came in eager and open to learning about Science. I even changed some opinions about Social Studies. I just may discover some historians when this year is over.
Science: We are learning about Ecosystems. The students have been identifying and linking the relationship between populations, communities, and ecosystems. On Tuesday, we will have our first review quiz. But there is no need to worry because this will be an open notes quiz.
Social Studies: We have just arrived in this "new" land called North America. The students will be introduced to the Native American tribes that live there. By the end of the week, we will be able to tell you the number of tribes and be able to name some of them.
We have started this year off right. Now we need to keep the momentum going. We can do it because we are LES cubs. Learning Safari... Destination Success.

Our American Government
This should be a fun lesson about our nation's government. I can wait to see the students' faces when they see what is in stored for them.

It's February already.
Wow, I can't believe we are already in the month of February. Where has the time gone? We have learned so much this year. Now it is time to focus on the Bill of Right and the Expansion of a New Nation. Pack your bags cause we are moving west.

Revolutionary War
Hello Soldiers & American Colonists,
I hope you had fun on Friday re-enacting the Revolutionary War. On Friday, we put all that we have learned into action. I do hope that the activity helped to reinforce what we have been working on. Now its time for you colonists to build a nation. Congrats on winning the war.
Sincerely.
Queen Georgia:)
